Your customers are your best candidates
The standard playbook for small-business hiring is to enter a giant marketplace and go fishing for applicants. Think LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter. Large pools, generic bait, hope the right person bites.
You're advised to pay for it. A few hundred dollars to promote a listing. Thousands if you actually want to reach the people worth hiring.
Shopify merchants have a unique advantage, and yet very few stores use it. You already have people walking into your store, opening emails, and buying your product. These customers are the best hiring pool to source applicants.
- They're already bought into the mission, literally! They paid money for your product. That's a stronger signal of fit than any interview response.
- They already understand the product. You skip the first week of training on the brand, the product, and the terminology. They've been using it, they get it, they're ready to sell it.
- It's free. You already paid to get customers to your store. Reaching them with a job listing costs you nothing extra.
Keep running LinkedIn if you need the extra volume. But don't let your highest-signal leads go untapped. Set up your job opportunities as pages on your own store, link them from your footer, and let your existing traffic do the work.
